Cabo Verde Airlines offers special assistance to unaccompanied minors (UM) between the age of 5 and 11, including at the date of return, subject to prior approval from our services.
Children between 12 and 15 years, inclusive, may exceptionally be accepted as “unaccompanied minors” at the request of their parents or guardians.
Do not worry, your UM will receive special attention and supervision from check-in until arrival at the final destination.

Cabo Verde Airlines welcomes passengers with their pets – cats and dogs. Depending on the size and weight, animals can travel either in the cabin or in compartments intended for the carriage of cargo baggage. Passengers traveling with animals should check the import and export regulations for animal transportation of the country they are traveling to. Other animals are subject to prior authorization.
To ensure the safe boarding of your pet, please make the reservation at least 3 days before the flight.

All animals must hold a certificate of sanitation and an International Certificate of Vaccination valid and issued by a veterinarian.
The carriage of an animal cannot be included in the passenger’s free baggage allowance, even if the passenger isn’t carrying checked baggage. The amount payable will be calculated based on the rate for excess baggage, as follows:

Your pet can accompany you in the cabin if the total weight does not exceed 08kg (including the carriage box/kennel), if the carriage box or kennel does not exceed the dimensions 55x40x20.
The kennel must be made of fiber, in an adequate size to allow the pet to get around comfortably within a radius of 360º, and should have clasps to prevent accidental opening during transport. It should also have a compartment for food and water and the floor lined with materials resistant to leaks and waste absorbent.
These restrictions do not apply when dealing with a guide dog.
Animals weighing over 08kg will be accepted as checked or cargo baggage and accommodated comfortably in a ventilated area of the hold, subject to certain rules to ensure the well-being of your pet:

Cabo Verde Airlines is concerned with the health and welfare of pregnant women and their babies, so when traveling they are subject to certain conditions.
If you are up to 4 wesks prior to 27h wesk of pregnancy, it is not necessary to provide a medical report in order to travel. You may, however, be required to provide your pregnancy card to prove the gestation period.
A passenger shal have a medical statement.
Pregnant women should ask their obstetrician for a medical certificate stating that she is able to travel by air, the estimated delivery due date and specify the point of departure and destination, as well as the date of departure and arrival. Pregnant women will have to sign a Disclaimer at the time of check-in.
Cabo Verde Airlines does not accept women who are beyond 36 weeks into the pregnancy, except for medical reasons and, in this case, she should be accompanied by her obstetrician.

Flying with your own wheelchair
Each passenger can transport his own wheelchairs in the hold free of charge..
When booking you have to indicate if the wheelchair is manual or battery powered, as well the type of battery and its specifications.
Electric wheelchairs contain liquid batteries that can leak, and which are not normally allowed as cabin or hold baggage. However, since the electric wheelchair belongs to a passenger with a reduced mobility, it may be transported in the cabin or in the hold. However, the battery must be removed from the wheelchair and transported in a special container.
If a passenger has a wheelchair with a battery containing liquid that could spill, they must arrive early at the airport and inform the check-in desk.
To avoid possible short-circuits, the batteries must always be properly protected, stowed, disconnected and the terminals covered with insulating material.
Electric wheelchairs cannot be driven to the aircraft. If required, we will provide a replacement manual wheelchair at check-in to ensure that you receive the necessary assistance.

Cabo Verde Airlines complies with US regulations preventing discrimination on the basis of disability on all of its flights to and from the United States.
Consumers can obtain a copy of this Part 382, the regulations regarding nondiscrimination on the basis of disability in air travel, in an accessible format from the Department of Transportation by any of the following means: :
Children under age of 5 can travel if accompanied by an adult, relative or sibling age 16 years or older. At the time of booking the flight, you must inform if one of the passengers is within this age group.
If the child is traveling unaccompanied by parents, you must provide a parental consent, duly notarized or equivalent.
In case a passenger is not in perfect health for the trip, it is mandatory to fill out the Medical Information Form MEDIF (download here).
It is the case when a passenger:

The MEDIF form is provided by Cabo Verde Airlines to passengers to ensure their timely completion and signature by their responsible doctor.
If the requirements are not met, Cabo Verde Airlines reserves itself the right to refuse to accept the passenger on the flight.
Depending on the Fare types, passengers are entitled to bring 1 handbag 08kg/17lbs or 1 handbag 10kg/22lbs (Morabeza Light and Morabeza Flex) and 1 or 2 checked bags (23kg/50lbs each) with an exception of the Economy Light fare type in which only one handbag (08kg/17lbs) is allowed.
If the weight is more than that, it will be considered as excess baggage and fees will apply.
Excess baggage fees of 15 EUR / 20 USD per kg will apply to any checked bag if the weight is over 23kg/50lbs.
On domestic flights, Excess baggage fees of 400 CVE / 5€ per Kg will apply
Please be aware that according to The International Air Transport Association (IATA) rules the maximum allowed weight of one checked bag is 32kg / 70lbs. Checked baggage which exceeds 32kg / 70lbs won’t be accepted.
Baggage carried in the cabin, free of charge, which you are fully responsible for.
If these limits are exceeded, the luggage will be dispatched as hold luggage and subject to the application of the extra piece charge.
Hand Baggage is all items that can be accommodated in the appropriate compartment (under the seat in front of you, or in the overhead compartment) with dimensions 55 in height x 35 cm length x 25 wide and a maximum weight of 08Kg.
Each passenger is allowed to carry alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the cabin up to a maximum limit of 100ml.
The number of items you can carry for free in the cabin depends on the fare type:
Economy Light, Economy Plus, Economy Flex – 1 piece of hand baggage up to 08kg/17lbs.
Morabeza Light, Morabeza Flex – 1 piece of hand baggage up to 10kg/22lbs.
All domestic flight fares are entitled to 06kg;
Passengers are allowed to carry, for the baby (aged 0 to 23 months) traveling with them, a portable stroller, bassinet, or a baby seat, in addition to the baby food necessary for the flight which will be collected at the boarding gate.

Cabo Verde Airlines is not liable for any loss or damage to the above-mentioned items, or a similar one if transported in your checked-in luggage.
At the boarding gate, if the passenger has more than one hand baggage or its weight is more than the stipulated (08 Kg) that must be collected and tagged with EXTRA LUGGAGE tags to be collected charge and delivered to the passenger at the destination.

Liability limit of items carried in hand luggage
When hand luggage has to be carried as checked baggage, it is recommended to be removed all valuables and medications recommended to carry in hand baggage (see Items recommended to carry in hand luggage above).
Cabo Verde Airlines is not responsible for the loss or damage of similar objects carried in checked luggage.
It's the luggage transported in the hold. Each passenger, adult and child, is entitled to the following allowance:

Infants
Infant passengers are entitled to 1 checked bag weighing no more than 10kg/22 lbs with dimensions that don’t exceed 115 cm (55 cm length x 40 cm width x 20 cm height).

When checking in your luggage, you will be issued a luggage identification tag, which you should keep until the end of your flight, after recovering your luggage. CVA reserves the right to refuse any luggage or cargo that endangers the safety of the flight or that given its size, weight or nature is not suitable for transportation in the aircraft. Passengers should always inform the check-in agent of the contents of their luggage.

Transporting some sports equipment is subject to prior authorization from Cabo Verde Airlines due to their weight, size or nature, and aircraft type. The booking of sports equipment has to be made at least 24 hours before departure.

Electro shock weapons (e.g. Tasers) containing dangerous goods such as explosives, compressed gases, lithium batteries, etc. are forbidden in carry-on luggage or checked luggage.

Pyrotechnic material and other items containing explosives, e.g. Christmas crackers, firecrackers, rockets and sparklers are forbidden in carry-on luggage or checked luggage.

Disabling devices such as mace, pepper spray, etc. containing an irritant or incapacitating substance are forbidden in carry-on luggage or checked luggage.

Medicinal or toiletry articles (non-radioactive)
Non-radioactive medicinal or toiletry articles (including aerosols) such as hairsprays, perfumes, colognes and medicines containing alcohol.
Heat-producing articles
Alcoholic beverages – from 24% to 70% alcohol
Requirements: The transportation of beverages containing more than 24% but not more than 70% alcohol by volume is allowed. The total net quantity per person is five litres. All alcoholic beverages must be transported in their original packaging.
Permeation devices
For safety reasons, permeation devices may not be transported as luggage. They can only be transported as cargo.

However, each passenger may carry a box of matches or a small lighter that does not contain non-absorbed liquid fuel, other than liquefied gas, intended for personal use by an individual when carried on the person. Lighters and lighter refills are not allowed in carry-on luggage or checked luggage.
Dry ice
Dry Ice (solid state carbon dioxide).
Light bulbs
Security bags
For safety reasons the transport of security-type attaché cases, cash boxes, cash bags, etc. incorporating dangerous goods, such as lithium batteries and/or pyrotechnic material is forbidden.

Oxygen or air, gaseous cylinders
Oxygen or air, gas cylinders required for medical use must be requested at the booking stage, so they can be provided by CVA aeronautical authorization. Private transport of these items is forbidden.
Non-infectious specimens in flammable liquid
For safety reasons, the transport of non-infectious specimens, in flammable liquid, as luggage is forbidden. However, these articles may be transported as cargo.
Radioisotopic cardiac pacemakers
The transport of radioisotopic cardiac pacemakers or other medical devices, including those powered by lithium batteries may not be transported in carry-on luggage or checked luggage. Except when implanted into a passenger.

7. Additional information
Powder substances
Powder substances with a weight equal to or greater than 350 grams may not be carried in the aircraft cabin. This prohibition does not apply to articles with a medical prescription, powdered milk formula, human remains or containers with powdered products acquired in the Duty-Free area when carried in duly sealed Secure Tamper-Evident Bag.
Flights to the United States of America
Flights to the United States of America may be subject to additional screening of carry-on luggage and a detailed footwear inspection and of all electrical and electronic devices transported. Liquids on board
Liquids are accepted in containers of 100 millilitres up to a limit of one litre per passenger. These must be placed in a resealable transparent plastic bag measuring 19 x 20 centimetres.
Document Verification

Some countries require the submission of passenger documentation data, which will be kept safe, ensuring the confidentiality of the data.
Important notes: Watt Hours (Wh) can be calculated by multiplying the voltage (V) by the Ampere-hour (Ah). E.g. 12V x 5Ah = 60WH [V x mAh / 1000].
Due to security measures in the United States and the European Union, restrictions on carrying some liquids in hand luggage apply to all destinations operated by Cabo Verde Airlines.
Passengers are allowed to carry liquids in their cabin luggage only if in individual containers not exceeding 100 milliliters or equivalent (100g/30 Oz), packed in a sealed transparent plastic bag that can be opened and closed, up to a limit of 1 liter per passenger.
For reference, plastic bags cannot exceed 20cm x 20cm in dimension.
Liquids include, but are not limited to aerosols and gels: water and other beverages, syrup, soup, toothpaste, hair gel, perfume, shaving foams, and others of similar consistency, lotions, deodorant.

Passengers shall present separately the items covered by these exceptions at the hand luggage checkpoint. For further clarification, please check the Cape Verdean Civil Aviation Agency regulations Regulation nº3/2010 for liquids carrying in hand luggage and CV- CAR 12 for screening passengers and baggage before boarding.
When asked to do so, passengers will need to provide proof or prove the authenticity of the liquid exempted, through tasting or skin test.

The transport of your musical instrument is subject to prior authorization from Cabo Verde Airlines. It can be carried in the cabin or in the hold, depending on its weight, dimensions, nature and type of aircraft.
Check the conditions of carriage in the cabin and in the hold.
In the Cabin
To travel with the musical instrument at your side, in the aircraft cabin, you must book an extra seat that will accommodate the instrument.
The maximum weight allowed for transport in the cabin is 30kg / 66.13lbs. The maximum dimensions allowed are: 155x42x25 from the floor in the cabin or 110x42x50 on top of the seat.
To book the transport of your musical instruments in the cabin, you must contact our Call Center, at least 72 hours before the Flight.
Under certain circumstances, in case of large musical instruments, it may be necessary to book more than one extra seat. For security reasons, this decision will be taken by Cabo Verde Airlines.
